Kingston Hospital Charity was created under a trust deed executed on 29 May 1996 and constituted with a sole Corporate Trustee, the Board of Directors of Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The ongoing management and decision-making of Kingston Hospital Charity has been delegated by the Board to the Charitable Funds Committee (CFC). Chaired by non-executive director, Damien Regent, the other voting members include the Medical Director, Chief Nurse, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Serge Lourie, former Leader of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, and Steve Masters, retired KPMG UK Audit Partner, are the two non-voting members.

The CFC is required, amongst other responsibilities, to:

  • Manage the investment of funds in accordance with the Trustees Act 2000
  • Ensure that funding decisions are appropriate, consistent with our aims, and provide added value and benefit to Kingston Hospital patients, staff, and those in our community, above those afforded by NHS funds.

Kingston Hospital Charity’s Director reports to the CFC on all fundraising and administrative matters. In addition to the Director, there are two other members of the team, a Fundraising Manager and a Charity Manager.
