The Intensive Care Unit at Kingston Hospital took delivery of two additional Caremed chairs in July to ensure all critically-ill patients now have the opportunity to sit out of bed every day.

Caremed chairs are the only ones that are suitable for complex patients to be transferred out of bed in a supine position and then to sit up in an upright position. This is crucial to increasing strength in their trunk and postural muscles after a critical illness. Designed in conjunction with Critical Care, Trauma and Rehab specialists, they allow easy, quick and safe mobilisation and are proven to shorten the length of stay on the Intensive Care Unit.

It is with thanks to our local community for their donations that the Intensive Care Unit now has enough to accommodate all patients who require them.
