After being discharged from Kingston Hospital having recovered from COVID-19, local resident and DJ Vernon Ray set up a weekly driveway disco to raise funds for Kingston Hospital Charity. Vernon has to date raised nearly £2,000 by hosting a social distance street party from his driveway which usually starts at around 6:30pm every Thursday leading up to the 8pm Clap for Carers. People from all over the world tune in to Vernon’s live feed on Facebook and he hosted a special VE Day Party edition which, with the help of his neighbours, proved to be a particularly successful fundraiser. Vernon and his family have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community and is thrilled to be able to give everyone something to look forward to each week.
